Destruction of Records

When you are discharged from services, GPCS retains your record for: 

• 10 years from the date of your last contact for services to adults, 
• 24 years after birth for services to minors, and 
• 2 years after the end of limited services that were not billed, such as requests for services or crisis only services. 

After the retention period, your records are destroyed in a manner consistent with HIPAA and state guidelines.  Record destruction will occur on February 6, 2026.  You may exercise your right to request access to your record or transfer copies of your record to another provider at any time before destruction. e your right to request access to your record or transfer copies of your record to another provider at any time before destruction.
